The "Pilot's Choice" Tour is a breathtaking journey of discovery of Southeast Alaska's beautiful wilderness. The itinerary is flexible; your pilot is free to create the best possible tour based upon current weather and glacier conditions. Your flight will give you an eagle's view of alpine lakes, "icefalls" hanging from sheer cliffs and some of the most remote peaks and glaciers in the Juneau Icefield - places like Wonderland, Glacier King, the Mendenhall Towers, and Devil's Paw. Your pilot will land in two different locations, where you continue the tour on foot! During these two landings you will learn about the geological and environmental processes at work creating moraines, crevasses, seracs, and the glaciers themselves. Tour includes approximately 50 minutes of flight time and two separate landing locations, approximately 30 minutes combined on the glacier.

Transfer by bus to North Douglas Island for scenic views of Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay. Upon arrival you'll be outfitted in life jackets and rain gear. Your professional guide will teach you paddling techniques, then you'll slide into your two person kayak with your traveling companion or a new friend for a water experience like non other. These stable yet nimble kayaks allow you to silently approach wildlife and give you a sense of how the famed Aleut Indians traveled the coastal waterways of Alaska in search of pelts. You will be led in groups of five to six kayaks to places such as the Mendenhall Wetlands where you may have the opportunity to view Mendenhall Glacier from an ocean explorer's point of view. Your guide will explain the significance of places like Smugglers Cove, the history of the surrounding area, and help identify local flora and fauna. You may see porpoise, seals, sea lions, eagles, herons, deer or even whales. NOTE: Waterproof camera and warm comfortable clothing are recommended. Suitable for ages 6 and above.

Trace the historic route taken by Joe Juneau and Richard Harris over 120 years ago. Your transportation to Gold Creek features a 24-passenger van with bucket style seats and large windows, and heavy duty suspension to help haul all the "poke" you discovery find on this fun adventure. This tour is perfect for all ages! NOTE: Walk approximately 30 yards over uneven terrain to the edge of Gold Creek. This is an exciting and safe introduction to white-water rafting. You'll have an excellent view of Mendenhall Glacier - one and a half miles wide and one hundred fifty feet high! Near the shoreline suit up with rain gear, life jackets and rubber boots. Rafts carry eight to twelve people and are rowed by an experienced guide. The more adventurous can grab a paddle and actively participate. As you glide past Mendenhall Glacier on this iceberg-studded lake, you will be treated to spectacular views of hanging glaciers, peaks towering 7000 feet above the river and glacial topography. As you float down the river you'll encounter several exciting Class II & III rapids with names like, "Iatola Hola", "Pin Ball Alley" and "Tourist Trap". Your guide will explain the natural phenomena at work in this scenic valley. Once ashore you will enjoy an Alaskan-style snack featuring reindeer sausage, cheese, smoked salmon spread with crackers, plus apple cider and hot cocoa.
