SEKT01 Alaska Queen Paddlewheel Tour

This authentic steam powered stern-wheeler will transport you back in time as we share the exploits, deeds and misdeeds of the area's early residents. Explore the three decks of this showpiece vessel. See the 1884 steam engines that power the paddle wheel. Musicians dressed in period wear will entertain you. A naturalist shares the area's history and points out historic sites like "Creek Street", the town's former red-light district and Whiskey Cove, where rumrunners hid their whiskey during prohibition. Get an up-close view of a cannery where bald eagles are often spotted. See a display of giant totem poles. |

SEKT02 Deadliest Catch Bering Sea Crab Boat Tour
|
The "Deadliest Catch" the famous Bering Sea fishery is brought to life on this tour. Seat yourself under the heated and sheltered amphitheater or on the upper deck. When you are comfortably seated, the crew will head out to the pristine fishing grounds.
You will watch as her crew goes to work and explain the hows and whys of the fishery. Local sea life such as whales, porpoises, and eagles are always curious. The animals brought to the surface will be placed in a live tank for your observation. See and touch some of the animals in the live tank. Crab, salmon, prawns and octopus are likely candidates for a friendly photo opportunity.
After the crew has "run through the gear" you head back to town. When the equipment is stowed and secured, you are offered a tasty snack. This is the crew's favorite time. They can share their stories and visit with passengers. You may even be able to persuade the crew to gather for a few photographs. |

Enjoy some of the most spectacular flightseeing in southeast Alaska. The scenic and wildlife photo opportunities are continuous; from take-ff to landing! Your wildlife viewing will target black and brown bear, Humpback whale, nesting Bald Eagles, rogue wolves, wolverine and Dall Sheep. You will landing on a remote alpine lake landing to look for a bear feeding in nearby streams. About 30 minutes of this tour features exploration of some very unique Alaskan shoreline in the timeless landscape that is Misty Fjords National Monument. |

SEKT04 Backcountry Jeep and Canoe Safari
|
Take control of a 4WD Jeep Wrangler® and wind your way through the rugged back roads of Revillagigedo Island. You'll join traveling companions in groups of four and begin the Jeep® adventure into the mountainous roads of the Tongass National Forest. By means of two-way interactive radio, your group leader and guide provides informative insights along the way. Stop for fantastic views, photo opportunities and to rotate drivers. The Jeep® portion of your tour concludes with your arrival at Lake Harriet Hunt. Here you'll grab a paddle and join your companions in a 20-passenger Indian-style canoe to navigate your way to the other side of the lake. A remote camp is base for a hearty Alaskan snack of chowder, smoked salmon and other fare. Enjoy a short narrated transfer back to downtown Ketchikan. Don't forget your camera and driver's license!

SEKT05 Rain Forest Canoe Adventure

Adventure begins with a scenic motorcoach tour through the Tongass National Forest to a secluded mountain lake. There you will board a native-style 37-foot custom canoe that is fast, stable and easy to maneuver. Paddle under the direction of your friendly and knowledgeable guide, scan the shore for wildlife and learn the natural and Native history of the area. Stop ashore for a hearty Alaskan snack and enjoy the crackling campfire in this truly majestic setting. After a short, guided nature walk highlighting the flora and fauna of the lush old growth rain forest, paddle back to the canoe dock and re-board your motorcoach for the return.

SEKT06 Wilderness Adventure Cruise & Rain Forest Exploration

A motorized rigid hull inflatable provides a short but exciting cruise along the coast and across Clover Passage to a remote Island in the Tongass National Forest. Whales, Stellar sea lions, harbor seals, porpoise, bald eagles and migrating seabirds may be spotted enroute. An experienced Alaskan trail guide leads the way on which takes you through a beautiful old growth forest, by way of a secluded beach. This trail is mostly boardwalk, about one-mile in length and well maintained. You will hike through ancient forest and learn about botanic species native to this region, like Western red cedar and yellow cedar that early natives were so dependent upon for spiritual enrichment, shelter and transportation. Sitka spruce from this area was instrumental in the construction of Howard Hughes' famous "Spruce Goose" and other early vintage fighter planes. After hiking this gently sloped historic trail, enjoy an snack of smoked salmon, cheese and crackers, hot chocolate, coffee and juice. Then take some time to explore the natural beauty around you. Take the ultimate tour by boat and plane through Misty Fjords National Monument, one of the most majestic creations on earth! Cruise in luxury aboard a high-speed catamaran into the heart of the Monument, then enjoy an incredible tour through Behm Canal and Rudyerd Bay, surrounded by cliffs towering thousands of feet and waterfalls cascading into emerald waters. You'll visit many points of interest, such as an active eagle's nest, a mysterious Native pictograph, and Punchbowl Cove with its columnar basalt formations and the colorful Mossy Wall bird rookery. The towering volcanic spire known as New Eddystone Rock calls to mind the dramatic geologic forces that shaped this area six million years ago.
