This tour provides an in depth look in Sitka's rich history. For over 63 years Sitka was the capital of Czarist Russia until Alaska was sold to the United States in 1867. The fully narrated tour includes stops at Sitka National Historic Park and the world renowned St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral with its priceless 16th Century Icons and religious artifacts. After visiting the local museum quality totems, the tour concludes with an authentic Russian style folk-dance performed by Sitka's New Archangel Dancers. |

SESI05 Sea Kayaking Adventure

Begin your adventure skimming across Sitka Sound in a motorized, rigid hull inflatable, looking for whales, sea lions and other marine life enroute to our floating base camp. Learn basic kayak techniques before venturing off into the calm scenic waters. Your guide shows you the area's varied marine life as you glide silently through the sound. Keep an eye out for bald eagles among the tall Sitka spruce. Back at base camp enjoy a warm snack and beverage. |
